Day 1: Shapes and colors on the Provence side

The Abbey of Valsaintes, built on the rock of the Dragon, is surrounded by a garden labeled "remarkable". It is home to more than 500 varieties of roses.

Notice the Boulinettes at the entrance, these masses of sandstone that formed in the sea 110 million years ago. It is erosion that today gives them the shape of giant eggs.

In the past, a belief was passed down from generation to generation that the goddess Earth (identified with the dragon rock) laid stone eggs. We find traces of this cult at the foot of the rock.

This site has become a reference space in the preservation of mineral, botanical and wildlife biodiversity. The garden is cared for using organic methods, respecting the vital balance of the plants and animals present.
