Mountain biking at the Terres Noires trail
The Black Lands are a pile of marly sediments (limestone enriched with clay) fragile to erosion, hence the many gullies and valleys that can be observed. Their black color shows that their deposit medium dating from -168 to -158 million years ago was quite deep and poor in oxygen.
