Day 2: Meet the many Ubayes

In the Upper Ubaye Valley, the mineral is very present and the phenomena of covering, folding and thrusting present a wide variety of colors.
The upper part of the Ubaye comes originally from the schists of the Piedmont water table characterized by metamorphic limestones of ocher-pink color such as Guillestre marble.
There are also ophiolites (magmatic rocks typical of the oceanic crust) such as cushion basalts in the Chabrières valley, serpentinites, dark green in the former Maurin quarry, or continental sedimentary rocks such as the Triassic quartzites of the Aiguille Pierre André.

Type: 80 m normal route / 6 other 200 m routes classified D + to TD.
Departure: In Maljasset, terminus of the motorized road, take the path towards Col Mary (1h30 to 2h walk) to arrive at the foot of the needle.
